Atmosphere Pizza
935 N Beneva Rd #409, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Best Pizza in Sarasota
Atmosphere’s small family-owned restaurant is deceptive from the outside. You would never suspect that through their door lies a true slice of Napoli, Italia.
Our favorite pie is the pizza Vesuvio. We love the fresh burrata that breaks open at the top and graces each bendy doughy slice. It’s a 10/10 every time. They are consistently reliable in delivering amazing quality pizza.
Venezia Italian Restaurant
373 St Armands Cir, Sarasota, FL
Venezia is an Italian restaurant in St. Armands Circle. It’s been open since 1966. Here’s why it’s one of the best pizza places in Sarasota, Florida.
Venezia has a super flavorful crust with more cheese than a standard Neapolitan pizza. It’s OMG good. The cheese has a unique taste to it and the tomato sauce is very rich. The cheese practically falls off the pizza.
The toppings are very clearly fresh and smell amazing. The pepperoni are large, juicy and not too spicy.
RomanSQ
6670 Superior Ave, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Authentic Roman pizza (SRQ)
RomanSQ makes the most authentic roman pizza. Their pizza dough starts with a proprietary ratio of flour, yeast, and water. To encourage ideal fermentation, they use a water filtration system that monitors water pH levels. After 96 hours, the pizza dough is for the Castelli double deck oven.
Where they really stand out is the quality of ingredients. They grow their own basil and use locally sourced vegetables. You’ll find eye popping fire roasted red peppers and perfectly ripe vegetables. Everything is fresh including the artisanal meats and cheeses.
The pizza dough is light and perfectly crispy. We loved the margarita pizza, Italian sausage with mushrooms and fire roasted red peppers with onion and mushrooms.
Napule Sarasota
7129 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Neapolitan wood-fired pizza
Napule is one of the most popular Italian restaurants with the best pizza in Sarasota. It’s not often you find pizza that tastes so good, that you don’t need toppings. The pizza dough at Napulé is perfection. Wood fired and cooked just right.
The atmosphere is welcoming, romantic, modern Italian and truly an experience. When you first walk in, you’ll be hooked by the giant wood-fired grill. From the wine on the wall to the excellent food presentation, you’ll be fascinated every minute you’re there.
The pizza itself is bursting with flavor. The crust is crispy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. The cheese is perfectly melted and holds everything together. Topping are carefully chosen and never broken. The sauce was rich and delicious!
Valentino Pizzeria Trattoria
4045 Clark Rd, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Best thin crust pizza in Sarasota
Valentino’s is one of the best New Jersey style pizza places in Sarasota, FL. If you love crispy thin crust pizza, this is a must-try. We experienced friendly staff and fast service. The inside was lightly lit and not confrontational. We absolutely loved the vibe.
They use the freshest ingredients which are often locally sourced (depending on season). We found they were very generous on toppings and cheese. The quality of sauce was excellent! There wasn’t too much tomato sauce, but we did notice tiny chunks of tomato.
This modern Italian restaurant also offers pizza by the slice. The slices are very large and are about $4.50-$5 depending on which one you get.
Polpo Pizza Company
Polpo Pizza Co is a mobile wood fired grill pizza truck. You’ll find them at the Sarasota Farmers Market every Saturday 7am-1pm. They make the best 12″ Neapolitan breakfast pizzas!
We highly recommend you try the breakfast carbonara, traditional margherita or the pepperoni pizza. Here’s why the breakfast carbonara is legendary…
Breakfast carbonara has garlic cream, extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, bacon, sunny-side organic egg, fontina, shaved parmesan and mozzarella. It’s then finished with aged parmesan.
When: Every Saturday 7am-1pm
Where: Sarasota Farmer’s Market
Atria Cafe
4120 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton, FL
Known for: Sourdough Neapolitan pizza
Atria’s pizza is arguably the best pizza in Sarasota. It’s got a sensational sourdough crust and locally sourced ingredients. It looks a lot like a standard Neapolitan pizza but the sourdough crust makes all the difference.
Besides their fresh ingredients, each bite has the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. They’ve mastered the art of pizza and we are here for it.
When: Tuesday to Saturday 5-8:30pm
Rico’s Pizzeria
1902 Bay Rd, Sarasota, FL
Known for: NJ thin crust pizza in Sarasota
Rico’s Pizzeria is one of the best New York style pizza places in Sarasota. You can order a whole pizza pie and pizza by the slice. They have a few different locations in Sarasota, Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch.
There was a generous amount of cheese, flavorful crust and excellent pepperoni! There was a good balance of cheese to sauce. If you love hand tossed NY pizza, you’ll love Rico’s.
Solorzano Bros. – Webber St.
3604 Webber St, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Best NJ pizza by the slice
Solorzano Bros. is one of the New Jersey style pizza places in Sarasota, FL. Walking inside, you’ll instantly feel like you’re in NJ. Endless Jersey style wall decor, garlic knots, cannoli’s and pizza by the slice.
If you love perfectly crispy and crunchy crust, you’ll love Solorzano’s. The slices weren’t too big, but there was a perfect amount of cheese and seasoning. If you’re wondering where locals eat, you’ll find them at Solorzano’s.
Pazzo Southside
1936 Hillview St, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Brick oven pizza
Pazzo is an Italian restaurant that has some of the best pizza in Sarasota. It’s a modern contemporary restaurant that opened in 2018. Everything from wall decor to food presentation is excellent!
They’re well known for their super tasty brick oven pizzas with eclectic twists. The crust is perfectly crunchy and the tomato sauce is thin but rich.
You’ll find a pizza with braised short ribs, caramelized onions and fresh mozzarella. Another favorite is the tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto, artichoke hearts, arugula with shaved parmigiana reggiano.
Flavio’s Brick Oven Pizza
5239 Ocean Blvd, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Best pizza in Siesta Key
Flavio’s has amazing Neapolitan style brick oven pizza. This is one of those gourmet pizza places in Sarasota that you absolutely have to try at some point.
They use high heat ovens to make slightly crispy crust. The crust is crispy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. This is what gives it multiple layers of flavors.
Bavaro’s Pizza Napoletana
27 Fletcher Ave, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Napoli brick oven pizza
Bavaro’s pizza is the perfect combination of doughy, melty, chewy goodness that belongs in a traditional neapolitan pie.
The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside and doughy in the middle. The dough is so thin in the middle that the slice has that nice gooey bend when you pick it up.
Their sauce is robust and rich in flavor but very finely spread. The sauce to cheese ratio is very balanced but could have used a bit more of both. Our favorite part was the little authentically Italian pepperoni featured in the Americano pizza.
IL Panificio Pizzeria
1703 Main St, Sarasota, FL
IL Panificio Pizzeria is one of the only pizza restaurants in downtown Sarasota that offers pizza by the slice. They have a thin crust with excellent tasting cheese and little sauce. It’s the type of pizza you fold in half.
The crust is phenomenal. Sometimes you eat a pizza and leave the crust in the box. This is not one of those places. If you love thin crust pizzas, this is a must-try. Their crust is almost uncomfortably thin.
The restaurant itself is not that clean and definitely needs remodeling. If you’re from New York, it’ll remind you of a small NY pizza joint. The staff can also be a bit rude and short sometimes.
Joey D’s Chicago Style Pizzeria
3811 Kenny Dr, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Deep dish pizza in Sarasota
Joey D’s is one of the only Chicago style pizza places in Sarasota. If you miss Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s or Art of Pizza, this is the closest you’ll get.
Inside, you’ll find endless Chicago style wall decor and memorabilia. Joey D’s uses amazing rich tomato sauce. However, when it comes to the cheese…
They claim to use Grande mozzarella cheese. We found they either use a blend of different cheeses or overheat the cheese. We ate there three times and experienced the same “squeaky” cheese quality.
The crust was a bit burned for Chicago style pizza. It almost seems like they’re trying to please New York and Chicago people at the same time. We highly recommend they switch to whole milk mozzarella cheese and cook their crust lighter.
La Mucca Ballerina
1668 Main St, Sarasota, FL
La Mucca Ballerina is known for fresh mozzarella that is made in house. When they were open for lunch, the mozzarella sandwich was the most popular sandwich. The inside is Italian themed and very traditional.
Since they use the same mozzarella for their pizza, you can bet it’s going to be good. They have real Italian pizza that is light, thin and uses fresh ingredients. They’re also on our list of the best restaurants in downtown Sarasota!
Mediterraneo
1970 Main St, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Wood-fired thin crust pizza

Cafe Epicure
1298 N Palm Ave # A, Sarasota, FL
Cafe Epicure is known for their thin crust pizzas. We would argue it’s among the most thin crust pizza in Sarasota other than IL Panificio Pizzeria. Here’s how they’re different…
Cafe Epicure focuses on top quality ingredients and toppings. They also use less cheese than IL Panificio Pizzeria and slightly more sauce.
The pizzas are wood-fired and full of flavor. It’s also a great place for authentic Italian food.
Caragiulo’s Italian American
69 S Palm Ave, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Gluten free pizza with cauliflower crust
Caragiulo’s is an Italian restaurant that’s known for their crunchy crust. If you don’t like it crunchy, you’ll think it’s over-baked. If this sounds like you, let them know to cook it lightly.
We would recommend their Pollo Pazzo or margherita pizza. The Pollo Pazzo is blackened chicken, sweet onion with a blend of 3 cheeses. Their margherita pizza is made with authentic house-made mozzarella.
If you love gluten free pizza, you can upgrade to a crunchy cauliflower crust. Not only do they have amazing pizza, they’re also one of the best restaurants in downtown Sarasota!

1341 Main St, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Margherita pizza
Clasico Italian Chophouse is an Italian restaurant with outside seating. You’ll find climber plants on the exterior, arched windows and semi-private romantic seating. The inside is recently renovated and beautiful. You’ll find perfectly polished wooden tables and leather booths.
Clasico is truly known for their margherita pizza and prosciutto pizza. The crust is cooked light and there is a generous amount of cheese and sauce. They also offer gluten free cauliflower crust.
Local Pizza
66 N Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL
Local Pizza makes phenomenal brick oven pizzas in Osprey, FL. They offer “red” and “white” pies depending on what kind of sauce you prefer as your base. Their pizza is doughy and really tasty even without toppings.
The real magic happens when they add their unique concoction of toppings. Our all time, must-have is their Meat Me in the Corner and Right in the Kisser pizzas.
Combinations like pepperoni, bacon jam with sweet fennel sausage and roasted garlic is what keeps us coming back for more.
Shaner’s Pizza
6500 Superior Ave, Sarasota, FL
Known for: Chicago style thin crust pizza
Shaner’s Pizza is a bar with a cozy atmosphere and the best thin crust pizza in Sarasota. If you’re from Chicago, you’ll really appreciate this pizza. Here’s why…
The crust is thin, but there is lots of cheese and a decent layer of sauce. If you think New York style pizza has very little sauce, you’ll love this place.
It reminded us of Chicago’s Pizza, Pizano’s Pizza or Lou’s thin crust pizza.
Origin Craft Beer & Pizza Cafe
1837 Hillview St, Sarasota, FL
Origin is a pizza restaurant with a great atmosphere and craft beer. The crust is fairly thin and for many a bit too crispy. However, if you love crispy, this place is for you!
The cheese was practically burned onto the crust rather than melted. We ordered delivery a few times and we left the crust ends in the box every time.
However, the flavor combinations were amazing! We would highly recommend the 1837 BBQ chicken pizza and siesta sands white pizza. You can also ask them to cook it lightly.
Palermo Pizza Sarasota
7515 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL
Known for: New York pepperoni pizza
Palermo is well known for the best New York pizza in Sarasota. Specifically the thin crust pepperoni pizza. The crust is thin, crunchy but not burnt and slightly chewy on the inside.
The cheese is fresh, stringy and not hard. There’s also a decent amount of cheese and a good balance of sauce. They also make a great vegan pizza with vegan cheese.
